The Magic Carpet Community Art Project

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre asked us to run a series of Textiles Workshops to create a huge Magic Carpet for Aladdin. We invited Sandwell Cancer Support Group at Murray Hall Tipton to join in with this Knitting and Crochet Session.

Participants created imaginative Knitting and Crochet "patches" which formed part of an enormous Magic Carpet. This went on Public display during WGT's panto run of Aladdin!

"Standing Tall" Community Art Project

We were commissioned by WGT to create a 2 storey high Giant for the panto Jack and the Beanstalk. Naturally, we invited those crafty Murray Hall people to take part!

We installed the Giant over two floors on the main staircase at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Everyone who came to the panto Jack and the Beanstalk met him as they arrived!

Sandwell Cancer Support and Neighbours Group at Murray Hall created some Wild Knitting patches. These were stitched together to create the Giant''s patchwork clothes.
Around 400 local people participated in the Community Art Project and we were delighted to invite Sandwell Cancer Support and Neighbours Group to take part.
The Giant's head was made by students at Smestow School.
